Package Ideas for schools

Key Stage 2

The following are examples of some of the workshops we deliver. If you have any queries or are looking for something different, just give us a call and we will be happy to accommodate you:

The Nightingale

The Nightingale

Interactive story-telling session. A favourite tale from Hans Christian Andersen, this story focuses on puppetry and using objects in unusual ways.

The Little Mermaid

Story-telling session told through shadow, this well known story combines drama workshop ideas with the magic of storytelling.

Persephone and the Pomegranate

Interactive story-telling session told through illustration. Classic Greek tales can really spark the imagination, and this story is no exception, with angry gods, kidnap and trickery, this story will keep everyone on the edge of their seats.

The Tudors

‘The Voyage of Discovery’ – this exciting role-play will take the class into the court of Elizabeth I, onto a Tudor galleon, (where they will set sail around the world) and (time permitting) onto unknown islands, finding new trading items, and hopefully avoiding the Spanish!  This theme links into the discovery of chocolate in South America.

The Greeks

‘The Odyssey’ – we explore one of the most fantastic stories ever told, starting with the war at Troy, the class will battle against sirens, the Cyclops, face whirlpools and sea monsters amongst many other enemies – but will they reach home?  This package encourages group work, problem solving and the imagination.

Once upon a time ‘creative writing’

Get those imagination working and be prepared for inspiration. Rhubarb Theatre uses a multitude of drama games, ideas and techniques to create stories.  Drawing on Roald Dahl’s ‘Revolting Rhymes’ as a starting point, the children will be creating their own stories by the end of the sessions.  We could even create a new story-telling space in your school….

Around the world

Step into the shoes of Phileas Fogg and let us take you on a journey of a lifetime.  Exploration, travel and locations covered in an exciting role-play that can be easily performed to the rest of the school.  This package can link into locations of your choice.

Environment

Using drama, puppets, song and dance, we explore all the problems facing today’s world and how we can make a difference.  This package can be in the form of role-play or performance to the rest of the school.

Out of this World

Have you ever thought what it would be like to have a time machine?  Where would you go?  Back to the dinosaurs, into the Great fire of London, what about World War 2 or the 1960’s.  Maybe you’d zoom into space and visit a kingdom of robots or under the sea to the great unknown water worlds.  We will take you wherever you imagination is prepared to go…

Lights, camera, action

Have you got a school play coming up?  Give the cast a crash course in stage skills!  Whether its focus, status, projection, finding a character or simply learning to face in the right direction, this fun workshop will build confidence in your cast and offer ideas of how to make your production a 5 star hit!

World War 2

A sensitive role-play taking the class through the experience of evacuation, rationing and the role played by the soldiers, sailors and air force.

Ancient Egypt

We will go back to Ancient Egypt, to a time of gods and pharaohs.  Starting with a trip down the Nile in these dangerous times, we will find ourselves in the court of Osiris where judgement is made.  Will your character’s heart be pure, will it balance against the feather of the Goddess Ma’at?  Only you can decide.

What does it mean to be English?

Celebrating our culture, we use the arts to explore this question, covering history, geography and a dramatic touch to bring this cultural query to life.

Arabian Nights

This fabulous collection of stories is a rich picking for cultural and creative projects, using drama, music, dance, shadow puppetry and other devices to explore the content and the telling.

Issues and dilemma’s

Drama is the perfect tool for dealing with issues.  From bullying to smoking, each school/year group/class/child has issues and dilemmas to face – why not put it to the platform, reverse roles and get your children thinking from another point of view.
